Painted Saber by Aeon70 Painted Saber by Aeon70
It took me ages to made this one. x.x

This is officially my first successful drawing (or painting) make on photoshop, featuring the thunder lioness Saber.

It's way different than working on Illustrator and forced me to try different way to shad before findind a decent one.
It's also somewhat... Should I say "gratifying" as tou really feel like giving form to the picture.

But what do you think about it? Do you prefer this style or the Illustrator one?
I would really appreciate to know your opinion. ^^

Note: You may also notice the cloak doesn't appear between the legs. That's because there is an opening here so the tail and cloak do not bother each other.

J'aime bien ce côté épuré, ça va bien avec le côté électrique du personnage !

Le style change pas mal par rapport aux premiers designs mais le rendu est toujours aussi impressionnant ^^

Aw m gayd. Awesome work with photoshop! That's a really good job you did there!

But I have a question: How did you maked the shadows? Did you first maked them with the pen tool (Solid colors.), then you blured them with the gaussian blur? I'm really askin'.

Thanks ^^

Actually the shadows are mades from a fill layer with a mask focused character. I then created light by using a soft eraser (thickness to 0%) on the layer mask.
I also used the smudge tool with a stronger thickness (around 80%) to alter some part and make the sharper parts of the shadow.

The smudge is really useful, expecially with a different shape of brush like pointillism for the hairs.

I advise you to take a very visible color for the initial fill layer, like a red, blue or purple to make it visible and easier to carve, then change of a much fitting color once it's done.

I hope this helps you. ^^;

I don't get all, but I think I got the essential, thanks! But, do you think you could make a tutorial for making this, like you did with your Illustrator Tutorial? That would be awesome!
